Points for Prayer.
The Open Door Weekend certainly proved to be a great encouragement. For
a start members of the two congreagations met togerher to plan the event.
As had happened the previous year, when members of the four congreagations
met together to plan the Year team’s time with us, this had value
in helping us to get to know one another better. It also gave us a renewed
sense of unity. The weekend itself brought in not only members of our
own congreagations, but also folks from other Inishowen Churches and the
wider community. But most importantly of all, because fo the Open Door,
there were those who for the first time spoke in a new way and more openly
about spiritual matters. Please pray that the seed that has been planted,
will week by week, be fed and watered so that many in this place will
give their lives to Jesus. Pray also that the spirit of unity that existed
during the time of the Open Door weekend will continue to be fostered
and grow.
Please pray for spiritual renewal and growth not only within our congregations
but also within the wider community. Pray for direction from the Holy
Spirit so that we might discern the way forward from here. Pray that God
will reveal to us the new thing that He wants to do among us here and
that He will give us the wisdom and the courage to be His Instruments
to that end. Pray that the Open Door weekend at Carndonagh will not only
have been a weekend of food, fun and fellowship but also the start of
a process by which many will find new life in Jesus. Pray that we, as
Presbyterian churches in Ireland, will be and Open Door for the Good News
about Jesus and a shining light in this beautiful part of our Island.
